Srinagar, November 16: Fifteen Jammu and Kashmir cricketers have been shortlisted for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 player auction.
The auction, which will include 574 players, is set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, 2024.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the players from Jammu and Kashmir who have made it to the IPL 2025 auction list include: Umran Malik (Bowler), Abdul Samad (All-rounder), Rasikh Salam (Bowler), Atif Mushtaq (Bowler), Avinash Singh (Bowler), Nasir Lone (All-rounder), Mujtaba Yousuf (Bowler), Abid Mushtaq (All-rounder), Vivrant Sharma (All-rounder), Shubham Khajuria (Batsman), Musaif Ajaz, Kunal Chibb (Bowler), M Ashwin (Spinner), Yudhveer Singh (All-rounder) and Aquib Nabi (All-rounder).Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, who have previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, are anticipated to return to the IPL after their great performances.
Mujtaba Yousuf, who has been a net bowler for several seasons, is also expected to be selected for a permanent berth in a squad, given his developing reputation. Rasikh Salam, who has previously played in the IPL and has recently performed well for India A, is another guy to keep an eye on.
His recent form has made him a strong contender for a seat in the next edition.Notably, in past IPL editions, at least eight players from Jammu and Kashmir were chosen by various franchises, including Abdul Samad, Umran Malik, Parvaiz Rasool, Rasikh Salam, Mohammad Mudhasir, Yudhveer Singh, and Manzoor Pandav.
However, several of these players did not have many opportunities to play in matches. Umran Malik, in particular, created an impression with his scorching pace bowling, getting a call-up to the Indian national squad and receiving widespread notoriety.
His IPL performances have established him as an important figure for the future, both in the league and for India.
