Srinagar, April 16: A 44-year-old man from Srinagar’s Dalgate neighbourhood allegedly died as a result of medical negligence at the Chest Disease (CD) hospital, with officials saying an investigation is underway to determine the facts.
The family members claimed that Rafiq Ahmad, a Dalgate resident, complained of chest problems on Wednesday morning and went to the CD hospital for a medical evaluation.
They said that the doctor who was there at the hospital did not treat him properly. “As we tried to seek proper treatment for Rafiq, the doctor misbehaved with us,” they added, adding that the doctor also fled the unit following the patient’s death.
The family wanted an investigation into the matter and punishment against the doctor.
They have sought the attention of higher-ups to guarantee that such situations do not occur again.
Meanwhile, an official at the CD Hospital in Srinagar confirmed that a probe had begun. “The investigation is ongoing, and any negligence will result in strict action,” the official stated. (KNO)
