March 15: In a significant crackdown on illegal operations, Kulgam Police confiscated illicit kerosene within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kulgam and detained three suspected criminals. Acting on particular information about kerosene oil sales on the illegal market in Arreh and Shalipora, Kulgam.
Police parties led by SHO Police Station Kulgam and Executive Magistrate conducted searches in the aforementioned villages and discovered 500 and 300 litres of illicit paraffin in the possession of Tariq Ahmad Dar, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, resident of Shalipora, Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, son of Ali Mohd Wani, resident of Arreh, and Mohd Lateef Khan, resident of Sungai Danmar, Srinagar.
The alleged person who committed the crime has been arrested.Accordingly, cases vide FIR No. 12 & 21/2025 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation is in progress in both cases.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were selling the Kerosene oil illegally in black market.
