Shoaib Akhtar, a former Pakistan cricketer, has encouraged his side to travel to India and defeat them there during the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting debate.
Notably, India will not travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, since the tournament is now expected to be hosted in a hybrid format, with India playing its matches overseas.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also reportedly stated that they will not travel to India for future ICC events until they adopt the hybrid format.
However, the formal notification from the International Cricket Council (ICC) has yet to be made.
Despite the ongoing debate, Akhtar was pleased with Pakistan’s attitude on the matter and stated that they should receive more cash due to India’s hesitation.
You’re getting compensated for hosting rights and revenue, which is OK; we all understand. Pakistan’s attitude is likewise logical.
They should have kept a solid position, why not? If we are able to host the Champions Trophy in our country and they refuse to come, they should split the earnings with us at a higher percentage.
That’s a wonderful call,” Akhtar told a Pakistani news channel.Further speaking ahead, the former speedster encouraged Pakistan to travel to India in future and beat them in their own backyard.Travel to India and defeat them there.
Akhtar “When it comes to playing in India in the future, we should extend a kind hand and travel there.
My belief has always been: go to India and defeat them there. Play in India and beat them on their home ground. “I understand that the hybrid model was signed earlier,” he continued.
