Srinagar — On Monday, thousands of young people lined up for an Army recruitment rally in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, according to officials.
According to officials, the aspirants lined up before daybreak in Ganthmulla with the hopes of joining the Army. The recruitment drive began on Monday and will run until Sunday.
While some candidates aspired to join the Army to serve their country, others simply wanted to make a comfortable living.We congratulate the Army for holding this recruitment rally here.
“This is the first rally in Baramulla since 2019,” said Malik Nasir, one of the several thousand candidates. Nasir, who comes from the Boniyar area of Baramulla district, said he wanted to join the Army so that he could serve his country.
Another applicant, Shabir Ahmad, stated that he had attended the recruitment rally in quest of work. “The majority of the candidates here are educated, yet there are no jobs. Most of us are trying our luck wherever there is an opening,” Ahmad stated.
According to the rally’s program, candidates from the districts of Baramulla, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Budgam, and Bandipora would be inspected and tested before being selected.
Candidates from Baramulla will be screened on the first two days, followed by those from Ganderbal and Budgam on November 13, and Kupwara and Bandipora on November 14.
November 16 and 17 have been designated as reserve days to complete the process. — (PTI)
